In 1988, London violin merchant Peter Biddulph (with Eric Wen a New York violinist and Music writer) launched his own premium CD label based in England, featuring historic recordings by great string virtuosos, pianists, and conductors such as Yehudi Menuhin, Wanda Landowska, Sir Thomas Beecham and Mischa Elman, amongst over 100 titles in the 1990’s.

Biddulph Records rapidly achieved a reputation for excellence for its state-of-the-art transfers, informative liner notes, and visual design. Several years later, Biddulph began issuing new recordings that received consistently high critical plaudits.

Over the next several months, ALTO will begin the reintroduction of Biddulph Records with limited CD releases and the reissue of back catalogue in digital format, including lossless downloads.

The first of these CD releases – the complete music for violin and piano by Franz Schubert played by Pinchas Zukerman and Marc Neikrug (80250-2 – 2CD), available for the first time – is now available in North America and Europe from Amazon US, Amazon UK, Amazon Germany, ClicMusique France, Presto Classical, Europadisc UK, many other online retailers, and classical retail specialists worldwide.
