(‘Copland collection’) “should be supplemented with the late-1950s recordings Copland made with the LSO for Everest. This earlier recording of Billy sounds fresher and more joyous than the remake, and is coupled with a broad and often heartfelt reading of Statements (especially in the ‘Subjective’ movement). And I far prefer the incisive and characterful Everest recording of the Third Symphony ! The quality of the Everest remastering is so good and the playing of the LSO so impressive that this is a vital embodiment of Copland’s intentions.” (Rob Cowan, Gramophone)

of Schiff’s Bach) “I never recall hearing Bach better played on a piano. He has obviously profited from the return to the baroque style (he studied with George Malcolm) but as Bach on piano must be in the nature of a modern arrangement he is sparing with baroque conventions.”(Gramophone). “(Lipatti’s) classic performances were recorded by Walter Legge in a dry Geneva studio in the last year of Lipatti’s short life, but with each issue they seem to have grown in wisdom and subtlety. The reputation of these meticulous performances is fully deserved” (Penguin Guide)

(Vranicky) “a symphony that represents the French Revolution and events connected … a menacing first movement, marches for the English, the Prussians and the Austrians, a highly expressive ‘Fate and Death of Louis’, a funeral march, a ‘Tumult of Battle’ and finally a jubilant and affirmative ‘Rejoicing’ at the peace … it has a good deal of very attractive and effective music. I hope readers will try it” (Stamitz) “Carl Stamitz was himself a noted viola player; his beautifully orchestrated Concerto demands considerable virtuosity” (Gramophone) “a now long-running series revealing how full of depth is the wellspring of the Bohemian musical diaspora.” (MusicWeb)
